Cooking up something new…

At this very moment I am cooking. As a kid, the only thing I understood about cooking was that it required mom to be in the kitchen at length so I would join her and try and stir stuff. I always stirred it too much. A couple of decades later here I am writing music and cooking a ziti/pesto/broccoli with chicken kind of thing- this has become my favorite dish to cook because when I’m done it actually tastes good. I am also cooking some other things that you eat with your ears and heart instead of your mouth and that’s really what I am here to talk about. I have started production on a new album. This will be a full length record consisting of songs I have buried in my journal and depths of my hard drive for various personal reasons that more than likely involved a form of insecurity. Rest assured, these songs, along with brand new material will surface in the upcoming months. However, as an appetizer I am pushing out a ton of new content to my YouTube Channel. In the past I have been asked for recordings/videos of certain songs I play live but have never released or covers I have adopted but never recorded. NOW is the time for these songs to come to life. As I go through the process with the new album I will be posting sneak peeks into new songs, and choice covers from artists that have influenced me over the years… Please stay tuned…

Say hello to 2010. For the past 5 days as I filled out checks or forms where I had to write out the year, I realized that not until this particular year did I feel like we are in the “future”. Something about the way it looks i guess… 2010
I think about how our past brothers and sisters from generations before us used to think “I wonder what the world will be like in 2010… the future…” Shouldn’t cars fly by now? Maybe not. Whatever the case may be though one thing for certain is there will always be MUSIC. Things that touch our hearts and minds will never have a place in the past or the future because they exist everywhere all the time.

Up the west coast…

As I watch MTV I realize that it is quite possible I am out of touch with reality… tv that is. Are these programs real or are they written? I can’t tell and I am not sure which is worse. Some guy in this show is afraid to move out of his mom’s house. He’s 31. Now life has him doubting that he will reach his full potential if he stays. He just can’t seem to get off the tittie. In other news, I recently discovered that driving up the west coast is gorgeous. I stopped in San Luis Obispo and played at the Apple Store there. I then proceeded to play beer pong for the first time in my life. Great little town.

After a cozy night at Vagabond Inn and a grand slam breakfast later, I found myself in Portland, OR. I met up with Ian Axel and Allie Moss to play the Apple Store in Bridgeport Village. While I was there I had some amazing home cooked breakfast, drank a little, and enjoyed the good people of Portland. Life. Breathing. Adaptation. good stuff

In closing, I’d like to add that per the advise of good friends I have songs from the Robert Plant & Alison Krauss album “Raising Sand” stuck in my head. Why am I slowing down in my musical preferences lately? Seriously, it’s worrying me that I’m preferring slow country these days. Someone kick me in the nuts and make me rock please… but not too hard.
